Martha Pye

I was born in Clarksdale Miss. Moved to Memphis Tenn. at the age of 2, after the death of my mother and the induction of my father into the United States Army. At the end of my father’s tour of duty in the army, he went to Detroit and sent for me and at the age of 7 I migrated to the great city of Detroit, where I went to the Detroit Public Schools from the 3rd grade until graduation from Northwestern High School and then to college at Wayne State and Shaw College.
I married and had 4 wonderful children 2 boys and 2 girls. My first real job was with the City of Detroit with the Total Action on Poverty program, under the leadership of the late great Major, Coleman E. Young. My first supervisor was Clyde Cleveland. Then I went to work at the first Methadone Clinic in Detroit out of Herman Keefer as the first non-user counselor in one of their clinics; my favorite job. Then after 3 years, because of lack of funding, I left there and went to the State Of Michigan with the Department of Social Services, where I was assigned to many duties the first being a case worker and the final one being a field investigator in the GA program until my retirement.
In my Christian walk I have been Saved since I was 3 and didn’t really know why I loved and believed God so much, until I was 10 and "joined" a church called Central Baptist under the pasturage of Rev. Bishop. However he did not get to baptize me as my father and stepmother bought a home and we moved. I then united with the First Fellowship Baptist Church where I was baptized by the late Reverend Robert D. Hill and where I am still an active member under Doc B. Daniel Houze.
Under Rev. Hill I received my commission from God as an Evangelist. My call is "to serve," with good information via current news, help programs, and anything that will lift people who are down. I love people and God has given me a great love for those who others think are unlovable, and with that God given "gift of love and Wisdom," God has allowed me to share and encourage people where they are, not where we think they should be.
Some of the things that God has blessed me to do are, Sing with the First Fellowship Baptist Church Choir, the group called the Harlan Gospel Singers, the Spiritual Wonders gospel group, publish The Christian Guide Magazine, Co-publish the Christian Happenings Magazine, organize Real Men Ministries, The Powerful Women’s Network, and direct FFBC Young people’s Summer Bible School, Help care for 12 foster children at different times, and host the daily talk show on the World Wide internet, "The Christian Guide’s Music, News and Views show," and do I have views. For that reason I continue to be on the battle field for the Lord thru Humanity. I continue to share information because I found out that people lack power because they do not have needed and correct information. Without information there is little, if any, knowledge and without knowledge the people parish.
